Obituary of father, Raymond A Corey
DEATH: Patrick J. Corey, 61, of Danielsville, formerly of Scranton, died Thursday, November 19, 2008 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Patricia Pattie (Madouse) Corey with whom he would have celebrated 41 years of marriage this December. Born November 26, 1946 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Raymond and Rita (McDonnell) Corey. Patrick graduated from Scranton Central High School, and he received his bachelors degree in education (physics and math) from East Stroudsburg University in 1967. He later earned his masters degree from Penn State University. As a physics and math teacher at Pen Argyl School District for 38 years, Patrick touched the lives of many students with his love of science, before retiring in 2005. He was a past President of the Pen Argyl Education Association as well as a Vice President of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Additionally, he served as a delegate to the National Education Association. Active in The Boy Scouts of America, Patrick was a Cub Master for Cub Pack 55, and he was awarded the prestigious Wood Badge. He was a member of the Moore Township Lions Club, as well as a member of the St. Bernards Roman Catholic Social Club in South Bethlehem. Patrick was an avid camper and loved to travel the country with his family. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Pattie, he is survived by two sons, Sean P. Corey and his wife, Debbie of Northampton, and Daniel J. Corey of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two daughters, Krista A. Corey, V.M.D. of Lititz, and Pamela J. Klaus and her husband, Ted of Jim Thorpe; four grandchildren, Gregory, Sara, Amanda and Ethan; three brothers, Michael Corey and his wife, Gail of East Stroudsburg, Kevin Corey and his wife, Maggie of Rhode Island, and Allen Corey, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Kathleen Varkonda and Helen Higgins.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Dr., Route 946, Village of Moorestown-Bath. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family.
