DEATH: Raymond A. Corey, 85, of East Stroudsburg, passed away September 7, 2006. He was the husband of the late Rita (McDonnell) Corey. Born on June 30, 1921 in Lake Ariel, he was the son of the late Victor Stanley and Mildred (Brink) Corey. He retired as master sergeant E7 from the Army after 30 years of service. He was also a veteran of the Marines and Air Force. He was a life time member of the V.F.W. and American Legion, both in East Stroudsburg. He was a member of the Retired Service Organization at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Scranton.
Survivors: Sons, Michael W. Corey and his wife, Gail, of East Stroudsburg, Patrick J. Corey and his wife, Patricia, of Danielsville, Allen R. Corey of Scranton, Kevin J. Corey and his wife, Margaret, of Cranston, R.I.; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters, Kathleen R. Varkonda and Helen Higgins, and sister, Vivian Prior.
Services: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg. Burial, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Call 7-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

- Robert T. Prior, formerly of Dalton, Pa., died Friday morning, Jan. 29, 2010, in West Lafayette, where he had resided for the past year.He was born in New York City, the son of the late John and Augusta Stellar Prior, and was a graduate of the University of Scranton.
His wife of 58 years, the former Vivian Corey, died in 2002.
Mr. Prior formerly was employed for 25 years by Waitt & Bond/Blackstone Cigar Co., where he served as treasurer. He later operated his own public accounting business in Factoryville, Pa., for 25 years.
He was a life member of the Dalton Fire Company, serving for more than 50 years, serving as ambulance captain and president at various times and had been in charge of supplies at the firefighters' carnival since 1957; a member of the Factoryville Fire Company for 10 years and served as recording secretary; formerly was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as pack master and a member of the district and executive boards; a former member of the Dalton Boro Council; a charter member of the Dalton Sewer Authority; and a member of the Dalton Civil Defense. A veteran of the Army, he served during World War II.
Surviving is his son, Robert E. Prior (wife: Marge Sherwood Prior).
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Negri and Virginia Prior; and a brother, Edwin Prior.

Willard E. Newcomer
February 5, 2012Willard E. Newcomer, 86, of Newfoundland, died Sunday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Vera (Corey) Newcomer, who died July 22, 2002.
Born in Greentown, son of the late Elmer J. and Maude (Johnson) Newcomer, he was a lifelong resident of the Newfoundland area.
Willard owned and operated a successful dairy farm until his retirement in 1987. He also was a self-employed plumber and worked in many homes in the Newfoundland area.
A proud veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator guiding planes over the Himalayas in India.
Willard was a 1943 graduate of Greene-Dreher High School and rarely missed the annual alumni banquet.
His memberships include the Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a former trustee; past commander, historian and honor guard of American Legion Post 859, Newfoundland; board of directors of the Newfoundland Area Ambulance Association; former director and honorary life member of the Greene-Dreher Fair Association; and a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara L. Shepard of Laurel, Md.; Susan L. and husband, Manny Arzamendi, of Swanton, Vt.; and Sharon B. and husband, Bill McLaughlin, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Paul W. of Newfoundland and Barry J. and wife, LuAnn, of Paupack; 14 grandchildren, Scott and Kim Shepard, Heather and Brian Byerly, Justin, Mandy, Casey, Taylor, Adam, Dylan and Hunter Newcomer, Ryan McLaughlin, Amy Beilman and Stephanie Newcomer; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick J. and Chase Shepard, Max and Kaylee Newcomer and Braylon Byerly. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Newcomer, and sister, Jeannette Bertrand.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, Greentown. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.
