Emmy Lou Nevin, 94, of New Holland, formerly of Atglen, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Garden Spot Village in New Holland.Born March 22, 1915, in New Hampden, Va., she was the daughter of the late Uriah and Clara Mauzy Hevener.
During World War II, Emmy Lou worked for the Selective Service in Washington, D.C., where she met her future husband, Glenn W., who was stationed at the White House. They were married for 56 years until his death in 2000.
Emmy Lou was a graduate of Cochranville High School and West Chester State Teachers College.
She taught elementary music education in the Coatesville Area School District.
A longtime resident of Atglen, she was a member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and served as the choir director for many years.
She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two sons, William G. Nevin, husband of Rebecca, both of Frederick, Md., and Samuel S. Nevin of Gordonville; one daughter, Patricia L., wife of James Orlando, both of Centreville, Va.; and two grandchildren, Michael J. and Lauren C. Orlando.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Hickman, Glen Hevener and Samuel Hevener.
A memorial service will be held at the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main St., Atglen, PA 19310, on Saturday, April 18, at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church at the above address; or to the American Cancer Society, 1615 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.

William Glenn Nevin of Jefferson, Maryland
William Glenn Nevin, 67, of Jefferson, Md., passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Rebecca Ann (Walraven) Nevin, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Born in Washington D.C. at the Walter Reed Army Hospital, he was the son of the late Glenn W. and Emmy Lou (Hevener) Nevin. He was a 1962 graduate of the Octorara High School in Atglen and a graduate of the Centre College of Kentucky. He was a past member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church in Atglen. He belonged to the Ruritan Club in Jefferson, Md. and the Parkesburg VFW. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Forrestal and U.S.S. America Aircraft Carrier, during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a sales rep. for State Farm; a district sales manager for the Chrysler Corp., a district sales manager for Winnebago and salesman at Farber's RV of Columbus, Ohio. He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his two siblings, Samuel S. Nevin of Gordonville and Patricia L. (Nevin) Orlando of Centreville, Va.; nephew, Michael Orlando and niece Lauren Orlando. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, at the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main Street, Atglen, PA 19310, with visitation from 10 until 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the adjoining cemetery with full military honors.
