Hawley, Pa. —
With family near, and in her favorite place on earth, Mary Mowatt, 56, peacefully passed away, at home, on Sunday morning, March 11, 2012.
Mary is survived by her husband, John, and her children, Jonathan Henderson, Nicole Nordenhold, and Ryan Driscoll.
Mary was born to Lucretia (Bortree) and Raymond Driscoll on April 13, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest; now being survived by her brothers Norman, Robert, twin sister, Ann, and half brother, Ric Madden. After her formative years, the family moved to Wayne County, her mother's birthplace, and their summer vacation destination. It was during these summer months, in cottages at Cajaw, Beach Lake, and Wallenpaupack, where Mary learned to love the country life; fishing for sunnies, walking the fieldstone walls, going to the county fair, and raising bunnies. Her love of the country stayed with her throughout her life. Nothing made her happier than to "dig in the dirt" with John to create the most beautiful flower beds in the neighborhood.
Mary always knew what kind of life she wanted, to live simply, with a family and home of her own. She worked hard to create such a life with her three wonderful children. And, her life's dreams were complete when John entered her life. In John, Mary found her best friend, her soul-mate, her life partner. John's children, Ryan Mowatt and his fiancé Lauren Demberg and Melissa & Todd Molinaro, brought her more family to nurture. And, then came the grandchildren, one-by-one; Kori, Conner, Chloe, Gavin, Mackenzie, and Lyra Rose. These "grand-babies" were the joy of her life. Including her daughters-in-law, Carol and Christy, and her son-in-law, Mark- her family was complete (adding, of course, Mia, their great dane).
Mary loved her life with John and the "kids". She nurtured the family through her delicious cheesecakes and Christmas fudge; sewed quilts for the grandchildren, found treasures at yard sales to decorate their homes, and most of all Mary made sure that there were regular family get-togethers. She kept us all close to her, and to one another. She worked as a bookkeeper for Torte Knox Restaurant and as a database administrator for Randolph Borden Law Office.
